Alex Sallabank

Director, International Development Lead – Strategy & Consulting

Alex is CyberCX’s Director for International Development. Alex brings extensive experience managing the development and delivery of complex cyber security programs and reforms for the Australian Government and across the region.

Prior to joining CyberCX, Alex led the Department of Home Affairs’ Cyber Security Policy section, responsible for engaging with and developing cyber security reforms for Australian critical infrastructure.

At CyberCX, Alex has led our multi-disciplinary teams to deliver cyber security solutions to governments and critical infrastructure providers in Australia, and countries across the Pacific and Southeast Asia. These have included incident response training, incident preparedness activities, emergency response, and post-incident system rebuild projects.

Alex is an ANU-educated lawyer, who had a career start in civil litigation. His honours thesis covered international law’s treatment of the use of force in cyberspace.

Relevant Experience
  • Leading CyberCX’s International Development efforts, with a particular focus on the Indo-Pacific region
  • Leading the cyber security elements of the Australian flagship Critical Infrastructure and Systems of National Significance reforms.
  • Contributed to drafting the Australian Cyber Security Strategy 2020
  • Leading development of Australia’s Ransomware Action Plan and associated operational, policy and legislative reforms.
