Preparations are underway for Vanuatu to join other member countries to celebrate the annual event of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Days in May.
The 2024 National ICT Days Event is scheduled to take place on May 16 and 17, at the National Convention Centre in Port Vila.
The theme for this year’s event is “Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development.”
This is an opportunity for citizens and users to showcase the latest advancements in digital technology, discuss strategies for leveraging digital innovation to achieve sustainable development goals, and foster collaboration among stakeholders in the ICT sector.
Chairman of the National ICT Coordination Committee, Mr. John Jack, confirmed that throughout the two-days, the public will be engaged in enlightening discussions, interactive interviews, and networking sessions aimed at exploring the transformative potential of digital technologies in fostering sustainable development across various sectors in Vanuatu.
“Your participation is crucial in raising awareness about the possibilities that the use of the Internet and other Information and Communication Technologies can bring to improve service delivery across various sectors and bridge the digital divide in our communities,” he said.
Mr. Jack welcomes the general public to come, participate and see for themselves insights experiences, and innovative solutions that will be showcased by various and relevant institutions on topics and matters that help shape actionable strategies to harness ICT advancements for the betterment of our nation.
“It is a significant opportunity for Vanuatu and its citizens to gather together and celebrate the advancements and evolution of ICT specially in the country,” he said.
“Together, we can harness the power of digital innovation to address pressing challenges, enhance resilience, and pave the way for a more prosperous and sustainable future for our nation.”
Vanuatu is a member of the International Telecommunication Union that celebrates this day annually to mark the anniversary of the signing of the first international telegraph convention and the creation of the International Telecommunication Union.
